Police Sergeant

The leader of the police. He is Groucho Marx-esque and uncomfortably clumsy. Though their duty to protect is clear, the Sergeant and his police are more accustomed to fear and hide.

Beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Way Off Broadway

Those auditioning are asked to bring a headshot and resume, as well as 16 bars of prepared music and be ready to sing, read from the script, and dance.  All roles are open and non-union paying.  Those auditioning should be 18 years old or older.  No appointments are necessary and an accompanist will be provided

Specific roles to be filled are FREDERIC, the MAJOR GENERAL, the POLICE SERGEANT, and the PIRATE/POLICE ENSEMBLE.

Set sail with Gilbert and Sullivan’s most popular comic opera, The Pirates of Penzance, a hilarious farce about sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, and an eccentric Major-General.  This updated version of The Pirates Of Penzance took New York by storm when it premiered in Central Park in 1980, leading to a subsequent smash-hit Broadway run.

The Pirates of Penzance will be Way Off Broadway's 2017 Season-opener, running from January 20 - March 11, 2017, with performances every Friday and Saturday evening, and matinees on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of each month.

Rehearsals will begin at the end of November and be held 2 - 3 days a week in the evenings.  Beginning Sunday, January 15th, rehearsals will be every day until opening.
