CASTING NOTES

WEDNESDAY ADDAMS
Female | Age: Early 20s | Vocal: Soprano
Wednesday is an attractive, in shape girl who has the same dry wit and sensibility of her mother. Finds love with a “normal” boy (Lucas) and wants to introduce his family to hers.
Strong pop belt vocals.

UNCLE FESTER
Male | Age: 30s-40s | Vocal: Tenor
The androgynous family member who serves as the musicals narrator. He is larger than life, an energetic, joyous, child-like presence. A vaudeville style comedian.

LUCAS BEINEKE
Male | Age: Early 20s | Vocal: Tenor
An attractive, in shape young man. Fell in love with Wednesday Addams and plans to marry her. Experiences the youthful pain and drama of young love and struggles with the differences between his family and the Addams family.

MAL BEINEKE
Male | Age: 40s-50s | Vocal: Tenor
Lucas' stuffy father and Alice's exasperated husband. Always looking out for his family.

ALICE BEINEKE
Female | Age: 40s-50s | Vocal: Soprano/Belt
Devoted to her family, she always puts aside her own desires. A quirky woman who often speaks in rhyme.

GRANDMA
Female | Age: 102 | Vocal: Belt
Grandma is feisty, fun, and quirky. But don’t mess with Grandma, she's as tough as they come. Comedic actress with strong character vocals.

PUGSLEY
Male | Age: Early teens | Vocal: Tenor
Young actor who plays 12 years old. A charming, funny, husky boy who loves being tortured by his sister. He wants to ensure he won’t lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands.

LURCH
Male | Age: 30s-50s | Vocal: Low Bass
The Addams' butler. A very tall character who knows all. He speaks in moans and groans without becoming a cartoon version of himself. His movement is always very slow.

ADDAMS ANCESTORS
Male & Female | Age: Varies
Vocal: Varies
Male and female ensemble singer/dancers who are smart performers. Trained dancers who sing and have a fun, quirky sensibility.

at The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre

6:00 p.m. - Pugsley Addams Auditions
7:00 p.m. - All Other Characters


Those auditioning are asked to bring a headshot and resume, as well as 16 bars of prepared music and be ready to sing, read from the script, and dance (depending on the role).  All roles are non-union paying.  The roles of Gomez and Morticia have already been cast.  Those auditioning for Pugsley should be in their early teens, all others should be at least 18 years old.  No appointment is necessary and an accompanist will be provided.  

The show will run from September 11 - October 24, with performances every Friday and Saturday evening and matinees on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of each month.

Rehearsals will begin the week following auditions and be 2 to 3 times a week (Sunday evenings - Thursday evenings). Beginning the Sunday prior to opening, rehearsals will be every day leading up to Opening Night.

Way Off Broadway's production of The Addams Family is directed by Justin M. Kiska, with music direction by Jordan B. Stocksdale, and choreography by Dee Buchanan.
